Текст песни судно на английском
Обновлено: 12.11.2024
I took a couple small liberties with the wording of the lyrics for the sake of making it match the rhythm of the song. The meaning is left exactly the same.
Переводы "Sudno (Boris Ryzhy)" Английский S Guest Molchat Doma: Топ 3 Комментарии пн, 03/02/2020 - 03:17Ловко же Вы перевели "эмалированное судно".
пн, 03/02/2020 - 03:33The earlier translation used the correct term: bedpan.
пн, 03/02/2020 - 04:16Do they still use bedpans?
По-русски они «утки» назывались?
Не путайте судно с уткой.
пн, 03/02/2020 - 04:23Так судно уткой и называлось
пн, 03/02/2020 - 05:31Маша, Вы счастливый человек.
вт, 04/02/2020 - 05:05Ну да
Хочешь быть счастливым - будь
"Если я чего решил, то выпью обязательно"
чт, 11/03/2021 - 02:56Bedpan has too restrictive meaning. A much better equivalent to the Russian word is Bowl.
чт, 11/03/2021 - 03:06Not really. This is a song of a terminally ill man on his death bed. Bedpan is the exact meaning here, bowl is too ambiguous because its primary meaning is not bedpan.
чт, 11/03/2021 - 13:30I agree that this is the meaning in this song, but you have others that argue this is too specific and insist that it should be "vessel". I don't agree with this and this is why I think "bowl" is a more neutral translation,
Literally судно means vessel, but this word should not be used since its primary meaning in English is a (freight) ship. The secondary meaning of судно is a bowl or pan for defecating.
So, I guess I have to agree that maybe bowl isn't specific enough. Now we could of course discuss why not just say "potty" instead of bedpan
чт, 11/03/2021 - 13:57 чт, 11/03/2021 - 14:04Please reread the Russian lyrics: there is only one meaning to the "enameled vessel" in Russian, and it is "bedpan."
чт, 11/03/2021 - 17:42A vessel for feces, for urine. The bedpan for the sick.
So a bowl for feces, for urine is not incorrect.
пн, 03/02/2020 - 09:57Увидев название песни я думала речь о корабле😂. Прочитав текст до меня дошло.
чт, 11/03/2021 - 02:55Vessel is sort of correct, yet not. Vessel means ship or a device able to carry liquid. However, the primary English meaning is ship, and this must be respected so the use of vessel here is wrong. IMHO the word to use is "Bowl".
чт, 11/03/2021 - 17:09The only correct meaning of «эмалированное судно» in this context, and in general, to be honest, is “bedpan”. We are talking about a hospital room here. «Судно» here is just a polite (acceptable in a polite society) way to indicate a bedpan. As a native Russian speaker, among other Russian speakers who commented here, I can confirm with a 100% confidence that it is a bedpan. I promise you! No need to search for any other meanings.

Peter Nielsen thank you for your appreciation and this good point. Actually, "vessel" is a word of more general meaning, so a bedpan is also a vessel. In fuct, we have preferred "vessel" to "bedpan" so as to express our point of view and our feeling while interpreting this poem. In our opinion, the poem is not of literal sense. So it does not refer to someone who is necessarily ill. The meaning is broader and it covers the illness of a whole society. Furthermore, while using the word "vessel", which usually refers to a ship, one could perceive that this poem is for the desire of being alive, despite the fact that Ryzhy did not manage to overcome his despair."
