DP and LG should probably be swapped (if DP = Denez Prigent = male part and LG = Lisa Gerrard = female part, and each refers to the lines following it). I do not speak a word of Breton, but Prigent’s lyrics (1, 2, 4, 7) roughly correspond to what I hear in the song, while Gerrard’s parts (3, 5, 6) sound totally different from what is written here. Granted, she’s probably way harder to understand even for a native Breton speaker, but I highly doubt these are the lyrics she sings in the linked video (though there may be different versions of the song around). Most sources on the net omit her part altogether, so we probably need a Breton speaker to shed some light on this.
пт, 21/05/2021 - 20:26Hello Stanton,
what you mentioned is exactly what i hear - or actually DON'T HEAR - when speaking about Lisa Gerrard's parts in this song. And basing on what i hear, i dont hear any word that could correspond to the words that she is supposed to sing. I am not a Breton native, i am just very interested in the Breton language. But I think you know Lisa G. already from f.ex.'Gladiator '- Now we are Free - she sings something that nobody can understand;) actually i'm really wondering which origins this verson of "Gortoz a ran" has, with its parts that belong to Lisa Gerrard, but in any case there should be some real complete breton version! But i havent found any up to now.
Hello maluca!
Is there also a video (audio) for the version of the text you offered?
I met these words quite often (they are also part of your text):
"D'am laerezh war an treujou
'Teuio en-dro karget a fru
E skeud tenval an touriou du."
But i never found any video/ audio for that,
Do you happen to know what this version is and where one can find it? Thank you, merci beaucoup, trugarez :))
